Hello again! I’ve checked into the Stable Inn, which is located across the street from the Department of Farmland Security in Washington. On the desk, I’ve placed a portable recording device called DonkeyCom. The machine translates my braying into English words that then appear on my computer screen. Without DonkeyCom, I could not complete reports or write this blog.
When I meet with the Chief tomorrow, we will use an interpreter to expedite communication. The interpreter is one of those rare humans who has taken the time and the energy to learn the language of other species.
I hope it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that I am able to understand human speech. Most animals learn that skill early in life. However, as most animals discover, it is far more interesting and safer to pretend we don’t know what is going on.
Adjacent to the desk is a straw bed which looks comfortable enough. The floor has puddles which appear to have been created when some previous occupant drank too liberally from the water trough. Until it dries, I intend to navigate well away from the wet spots!
