The one that really enables me to ride horses is my husband, Geoff.
It isn’t something he intended, but it’s a by-product of his immense personality traits.
He’s gregarious, therefore he understands these equations:
Me + my barn family = sociable
Me + a small saddle on a big horse = extroverted
Me + a litany of stories about horse riding = companionable
He’s generous, therefore he accepts some hard truths:
We spend more on Captain’s shoes than our own.
Horses don’t grow up and move away.
Those blue and red ribbons that I bring home from the horse shows cost a lot!
He’s supportive, therefore he doesn’t ask why:
I’m at the barn for 3 hours when my lesson is 40 minutes.
Captain’s name comes up so often in conversation.
I delete the video he took at the horse show (because my heels weren’t down far enough!)
So true! Very cute
